For the Ackermans lingerie video campaign, we where approached to create a video that showed different Women’s body types in an open and appealing way to the female buyer, a video that would show a varying group of South African celebrities who are proud to express themselves and the feeling they have within lingerie, normally a very personal thought or feeling. Through consultation with each of our woman we discussed our approach, which was to invite them into a shooting space where they felt free to express natural movement, showing their own personal emotion when purchasing or wearing the Ackermans lingerie line. We created a studio environment that was private, upbeat and easy to express oneself, during the process I chose to channel with my direction and collaborate with the choreographer Natalie Fischer who worked closely with our stars on set, making them feel comfortable and guiding the movement with our woman on set. We also spent time before the shoot introducing our female celebrities to the concept, getting their feedback and hearing their concerns, an element often ignored when asking people to naturally express themselves on camera. I think with this, our exceptional styling and make up team, plus the incredible production from Ola films made for a rhythmic honest output within the video, with full buy in from our cast. Additionally the process and behind the scenes as well as a series of interviews where captured in a short documentary directed by Cassandra Nunan from Ola, she pried deeply into a topic she was personally interested in and related too, creating a honest projection of the process and situation, which validates the experience and process had by our female stars.

DSTV - WOMEN'S DAY

Women around South Africa and the world have an incessant struggle against the statuesque, the pressure on them is equal and if not tougher than those of yesteryear.

The video features four of South Africas most prominent and historical struggle heroes and activists, namely Dr. Mildred Ramakaba Lesiea and Amy Thornton who are both survivors of the 1956 Woman's March on Pretoria as well as Sheila Sisulu and Barbara Masekela who are both prominent in politics today as well as struggle hero's both who where part of the government of Nelson Mandela in 1994 and members of the ANC Woman's league. Lastly we end the video off with the young black rights activist Zalaikha Patel, a 15 year old activist who stood against the oppressive and antiquated rules of her school, Pretoria Girls High for not allow her to wear her hair in its natural form, it became major world news and she was awarded the status of, '100 Most Influential Woman in the world 2017'.

All the characters where cast not only based on their looks but also their true professions and real life successes, presenting a group of women who correspond well with the brand and celebrate real successful beautiful South African women. This is AD no 3 of 3 and focusses on the tinted collection.

ADIDAS - RUN THRU TIME 80's,  90'S & 2000's

For the launch of the Run-Thru-Time shoe collection from Adidas where they launched three different sneakers based on retro designs re-imagined in the present, I created a story about protagonist who embodies each era of shoe while wearing the sneaker it self in a modern world, he litterally runs and walks thru time and between the three different capital cities of South Africa, starting in Cape Town, then to Johannesburg and lastly ending in Durban.

This version is a mash up of all three videos, the full episodes are available below.
